The rebel Lady D of Miu Miu Pre-Fall 2019
The retro tribute to the ugly beauty according to Miuccia Prada
January 22nd, 2019
80s. Lady Diana Spencer adolescent shy, but already a bit 'rebellious, traveling in the Austrian Tyrol. Miuccia Prada starts from here for the Pre-Fall 2019 collection by Miu Miu, unveiling, in the lookbook taken by the New Zealand artist and video maker Sharna Osborne, the vintage-flavored photograph of a young good girl who is free and a bit clumsy.
She is an imaginary princess of Wales (as Virgil Abloh shows with his homage signed Off-White) who, in search of an identity that is still evolving, mixes soft military inspirations, Tyrolean folklore, white cotton collars and lace with the typical sparkle of the brand. Her style is made of sheepskin, mixed shirts, soft sweaters and wide pants; robust fabrics; heraldic crests, flowers and sequins as decorations; small clues to a girl who wants to be a woman and plays with shorts, bustiers, leather and gold. The outfits, the work of the super stylist Katie Grand, immortalized by Osborne, seem out of a photographic album found and peeled back with the mind back to a past with appealing together disturbing and captivating, that ugly beauty of Mrs Prada.
