Among the many emerging brands to keep an eye on, you'd better remember this name: Danse Lente. Born in the heart of London from the creative genius of Youngwon Kim, the emerging brand has soon become a cult among it-girls and influencers. The secret of its success is its sculptural, sophisticated and elegant design that combines manufacturing expertise, color blocking and inspiration from the world of modern and contemporary art and architecture.
It's been a few years since the designer, who was studying at the University of Arts London at the time, was among the finalists for the 2013 International Talent Support (ITS), a prestigious contest launched by Barbara Franchin to support young fashion talents. Once she cut her teeth creating shoes, Kim changed sector to found her own handbag brand that she decided to name Danse Lente, a French term that evokes the elegance of the movement of women who wear one of her creations on their arm. The success was so fast that at their debut on Moda Operandi, her accessories sold more units than any other women's accessories brand ever.
Danse Lente's items are making waves because of their contrasting pop colours, minimalist yet architectural lines, experimental, almost genderless aesthetics and references to the works of Picasso, Joan Miró, Brâncuși, Le Corbusier e Marcel Duchamp. Another reason to love these bags? The price does that not go over €450.
