Ottolinger SS21 collection
Fashion is the superpower of Cosima Gadient and Christa Bösch
September 30th, 2020
The models' faces transform into aliens with elf ears, wings and distorted features in the video presenting Ottolinger SS21 collection. In the film, shot around their studio, Cosima Gadient and Christa Bösch, designers and founders of the German brand, play with filters and visual effects, amplifying the powers of their inclusive team of models, formed by friends and local artists, offering the mood of a videogame where everyone can be a superhero. The creative duo imagines a world full of fantastic creatures, living between dream and nightmare, where clothes can give the confidence and strength of a superpower.
Despite all the supernatural influences, Ottolinger's proposal for next summer is deeply rooted in reality. Gadient and Bösch rework the key pieces of their archive and their signature deconstructed couture working to improve the fit, giving the clothes more elasticity and support without losing the easy-street style that also made Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid fall in love. There is a mood in the collection recalling the 2000s, with sophisticated shoes and bags and smart details like transparencies mixed with 3D floral embroidery, pants with shiny bands, adjustable dresses, blazers with a slit on the front that can be worn open or tight as a belt.
Fun fact: this season's color palette, ranging from ecru to acid green, is inspired by the works of Gadient's father, artist Markus Gadient.
