The Holiday 2020 campaign "Miu Miu Icons"

For the Holiday 2020 advertising campaign, Miu Miu Icons cast seven artists who are different in style and age, embodying the polyhedral nature and talent of women. They are seven icons from the world of cinema, fashion and music: actress and independent director Chloë Sevigny; Oscar-winning Kim Basinger; English director Raffey Cassidy; star of The Crown Emma Corrin; Chinese dancer Du Juan; Storm Reid, famous for Euphoria, but also for opening Miu Miu's FW20 show; musician and actress Jordan Kristine Seamón who is among the protagonists of Luca Guadagnino's new series We Are Who We Are. But, each with its distinctive personalities, also represents the brand's answer to questions such as:

How to define an icon? What creates one? Originally a religious representation, in a secular age an icon has come to construe as a symbol worthy of veneration and adulation. An icon can be an actor, a model, a musician — an example of excellence. Equally, an icon can represent a set of beliefs — a way of life. But an icon must always mean something.

The shots of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott show a preview of the Pre-Spring 2021 collection, a well-balanced mix of contrasting items, hovering between girlie and sportswear, in which men's silk robes and tulle party gowns, joggers and animal prints, cardigans and 50s wheeled skirts coexist. The images tell these different shades and reflect the personal styles of the icons in the campaign. For example, Juan's femininity is highlighted by a floral patterned blouse or a pink dress with black ribbons; Sevigny's indie attitude results in a sweatshirt fabric draped skirt combined with a leather top and sandals worn with socks; Corrin's romantic English style finds its perfect outfit in a long skirt with ruffles and lace details and a sequined top.
