How the pandemic has changed our shopping habits? We prefer a gender-neutral style, casual and functional, but always with a touch of glamour. This is according to the new Lyst Index 2021 report concerning the last quarter of the year just ended. Analyzing millions of searches, mentions on social media and online purchases, the leading search engine of the fashion world has listed the most sought-after items by women.
With searches up 242% compared to the same period in 2019, the real new entry among in our daily outfits are slippers. Whether you're watching a TV series while sitting on the couch, sipping drinks with friends connected via Zoom or hanging out to walk the dog, Boston clogs with shearling padding by Birkenstock are the favorite footwear of the female consumer, followed by Ultra Mini boots by UGG. Leaving sandals and heels, even the top Irina Shayk and Joan Smalls wear the models of the American brand, perhaps in the new neon colors.
The desire for clothing combining activewear, loungewear and style has made hoodies enter among the most sought-after items (interest increased by 71% compared to the previous year), such as the velour hoodie by SKIMS, the brand created by Kim Kardashian, which is the sixth most wanted women's product. Two other must-haves from the last three months of 2020 that fall into this hybrid category and are loved by it-girl fashion bloggers like Dua Lipa and Hailey Bieber, are Jacquemus' Valensole bralette and Sleeper pajamas with feather trims.
The Ukrainian brand launched by Kate Zubarieva and Asya Varetsa in 2014 is definitely one of the names to keep an eye on. Its nightwear is so chic that it is perfect to wear both inside and outside the home, even for a special evening.
In the top 10 clothes and accessories of the Lyst Index 2021 there is also a hint of glamour, inspired by two of the most-watched Netflix TV series of last year: Emily in Paris and Queen's Gambit. Marc Jacobs' Snapshot camera bag sported by Lily Collins, in fact, is the eighth hottest women's product; while Stand Studio's Nikki check coat reminiscent of chess sets is in tenth place.
