On the catwalk, a cast of top models: from the Hadid sisters to Paloma Elsesser
March 3rd, 2022
Coperni, a young brand that has now become a cult, showed its latest collection at Paris Fashion Week, dedicating it to Ukrainian women, in particular the seamstresses of Cap Est Sarl who have always contributed to the creation of the brand's clothes from their ateliers in Kiev. An Instagram post announcing the event states:
"For the past week, we’ve been horrified by the crisis in Ukraine an what our Ukrainian friends are going through. Since the relaunch of our brand, part of our tailoring has been produced by the wonderful Cap Est Sarl whose ateliers are based in Kiev. The amazing ladies of Cap Est Sarl are great collaborators, who helped realise our vision of what contemporary tailoring can be. Our thoughts are with them. Tomorrow the show will be dedicated to them."
On the catwalk, surrounded by a curtain of high school-style lockers, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Lila Moss and Paloma Elsesser walk the runway, holding a blown-glass version of the famous Swipe bag in their hands, and wearing outfits from the autumn/winter 2022 collection. For the next cold season, Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer play with shapes and cuts, showing a new maturity that confirms their talent. Jackets, trench coats and minidresses are knotted with cut-out details that leave the skin bare, knitted bodysuits are enriched with hoods that echo the creations of Cristobal Balenciaga and are transformed into minimal and cool little dresses. Cute cat ears sprout on hoodies, while leather items have handy pockets/pouches for storing small items. There are also the mini-skirt-micro top sets confirming the influence of Miu Miu's popular set, as well as the sheer, glittery or tight-fitting midi dresses with a 90s feel that follow the lines of the body.
The must-have? The three-quarter length leggings with a cut-out decorated with a small bow on the knee or the hybrid version with the bottom made of denim. Accessories include over-the-knee socks and the collaboration with adidas on the feet.
