Andy Sachs closed a circle at NYFW
"The Devil Wears Prada" perfect ending becomes true with Anne Hathaway sitting next to Anna Wintour
September 15th, 2022
It has been sixteen years since The Devil Wears Prada first appeared on our screens, joining the list of the most beloved fashion world comedies ever, but for a moment we seemed to see Andie Sachs at New York Fashion Week being held these days in the Big Apple. On Wednesday, Sept. 14, Anne Hathaway was photographed sitting next to Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who inspired Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly, in the front row of the runway show for Michael Kors' spring/summer 2023 collection in a look that looked like an homage to the star of the iconic 2006 film. The actress, dressed by stylist Erin Walsh, sported a look very similar to the one she wore in the final scene of The Devil Wears Prada: a chocolate brown leather trench coat with crocodile print with a matching miniskirt over a black turtleneck sweater (all by Michael Kors), a pair of black Louboutin pumps, a coffee-colored clutch and Bulgari jewelry. Her beauty was also reminiscent of that in the film and relied on a rosy color palette for cheeks and lips, while her hair was pulled back into a ponytail with bangs framing her face.
After periods of lockdown Anne Hathaway brought out the Andrea Sachs in her, sporting increasingly cool and interesting outfits thanks in part to collaborations with major fashion houses such as Valentino and Bulgari that helped her elevate her style, making her rightfully among the celebrities to follow when it comes to fashion. The actress seems to have perfectly learned the fashion rules of the perfect it-girl, just as her character did, thanks to the advice of good Nigel, in the early 2000s film. From the clueless girl who wore grandmother's skirts, she has moved on to much more sophisticated looks like the star's favorite: "I love what I wore to the James [Holt] party, that velvet Chanel coat that went to the knees, and then the miniskirt and the stockings and the slouched boots."
