Lace tights are the new must-have fall wardrobe trick
From Zendaya to Chiara Ferragni, all celebrities love them
October 20th, 2022
We already told you a few months ago: fashion has fallen in love with lace again. After years relegated to underwear, the most romantic of fabrics is back in the limelight on the catwalks and in our wardrobes, giving a hint of sensuality and romanticism not only to clothes, but also to accessories, first and foremost tights. After years in which, despite the polar temperatures, bare legs were the diktat, designers began to reintroduce them in every version: sheer, colored, printed, floral, fishnet and, above all, lace.
Mugler has made stockings a kind of art, a method of sculpting the female body with stripes, shading and the play of solids and voids; for Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton, too, they are synonymous with a conscious and emancipated sensuality; while for Nensi Dojaka, they are almost a natural extension of her see-through dresses. Yuhan Wang and Tommy Hilfiger, on the other hand, have chosen to enhance their more teenage side, also declining them in white and pairing them with pleated skirts, striped bodysuits, polo shirts and jumpers in full preppy style. An easy way to copy to tone down the "dusty" effect that lace tights can sometimes give to our looks. Also extremely contemporary is Gucci's interpretation, which has proposed them in different combinations and moods, making them perfect to wear on any occasion. In the latest fashion shows, Alessandro Michele chose them for long Hollywood diva dresses; to be worn under shorts, denim skirts or babydolls; but also to be paired with sportier pieces and sneakers.
Celebrities were quick to add them to their red carpet looks. The first to do so was Bella Hadid who paired them with a black leather Burberry dress for the Met Gala 2022; while in Italy the record goes to Emma Marrone during the Sanremo Festival 2022, in total Gucci. Since then, lace stockings, especially in the black version, have started to decorate the legs of Chiara Ferragni, Hailey Bieber, Georgia May Jagger, Simone Ashley and many others. The lace tights-mini dress combo has also conquered many young actresses such as Emma Stone, Sophie Turner and HoYeon Jung who wore it, signed Louis Vuitton, a few days ago at the Academy Museum Gala. Decidedly more daring was Zendaya's combination, who in the front row of Valentino SS23 fashion show sported a pair decorated with Maison's V along with a pair of shorts, a transparent top over bare breasts and a maxi blazer. Would you copy her, perhaps with a simple white tee and a pair of trainers instead of the see-through items?
