The "sunset" dress will light up summer 2023
From Ferragamo to Courrèges, designers have fallen in love with the colours of the sunset

Nature, with its lush flora and evocative landscapes, has always been a source of inspiration for fashion, which seeks to translate its fascinating geometries and myriad hues into shapes, fabrics and patterns. For the SS23 season, however, designers seem to have fallen particularly in love with the sunset, capturing the reds, oranges and yellows to colour the season's new must-have dresses. Sunset dresses have the colours of the sky as the sun sets, transforming into a palette like a contemporary take on the tie-dye print, alternating between intense and delicate tones, paired with fitted or almost intangible, lightweight silhouettes that hug the body to accentuate its curves and sensuality.
On the catwalk, the coming months have the warmth, the romance, the evocative and relaxed atmosphere of an impressionist painting or an aperitif in front of the sun sinking into the sea, merging sky and water in a tropical paradise of burnt orange, yellow, dark red and deep purple. JW Anderson was the designer who interpreted the theme most literally. He presented a catsuit made special by a tropical sunset with palm trees, which was also worn by Sabrina Impacciatore in the front row of the fashion show. For his first collection for Ferragamo, Maximilian Davis chose the effect of the scorching sunset for mini and long dresses with sensual references to the 1970s, perfect for surprising your partner at a romantic dinner or catching the eye at a summer party. Courrèges, Marni and Etro were also seduced by the allure of this dip-dye print, suggesting that in the coming months it's better to leave the usual little black dress in the wardrobe and try to literally wear the heavenly glow of summer.
