5 Trends to replicate for summer dates
Are You Ready for Love?
June 30th, 2023
What to wear on a summer date? It's hot, we might be meeting someone for the first time, and we are excited but also a little embarrassed. Choosing an outfit in June can help us feel more comfortable and, as happened to Kylie Jenner with handsome Timmy, maybe even win over the object of our interest. Is it better to opt for a little stretch dress or a boho dress, better trainers or high-heeled sandals, lipstick or a sober look? There are so many doubts that assail us when we should really just be relaxing, letting go and having fun.
If you are looking for some advice and want to experiment with one of the current trends, here are some ideas for your next romantic dates.
Slip skirt
Just wearing a slip skirt already makes us feel more sensual and comfortable at the same time, ready for almost any kind of romantic date (maybe not a hike in the mountains), from drinks on the beach to dinner in the city. A petticoat skirt is also foolproof because it's easy to combine and versatile enough to suit our personal tastes. We can pair it with a bustier top and espadrilles for Greek holiday vibes, with bralettes and Texan boots or with T-shirts and trainers like Emrata, with an infrandito and tie-dye T-shirt like Elsa Hosk or with a bra and jewelled sandals like Hailey Bieber. In short, it's all worth it, even if we wear it with a simple white tank top and a jumper over the shoulders to intercept our rather luxurious side. If we are lacking inspiration, it's best to look at the 90s icons who loved wearing them, like Kate Moss, Alyssa Milano in Witches and Jennifer Aniston in Friends. Which model we choose and how much budget we invest is up to us: in satin or crepe and silk, midi or extra-long, black or coloured, straight or asymmetrical, ... the slip skirt is destined to remain the star of our wardrobe for a long time!

Bodycon miny dress
It may be the effect of the new season of And Just Like That, but the bodycon minidress is back. Kendall Jenner wore it in Paris, choosing a model almost identical to one of Carrie Bradshaw's most memorable looks from the original Sex and the City series, and since then we seem to be seeing it on every celebrity. The reason? It's easy, breezy, chic and, contrary to what we might think, fits different body types well, as Skims, Bec + Bridge, Wolford, Alyx and all the other brands teach us, offering them in a wide range of sizes. The secret is the fabric, which should be stretchy to fit the body silhouette perfectly. We advise you to opt for a minimal version, but there are small variations that we can add to the shopping list depending on our tastes: off-the-shoulder, tubular, with narrow straps, with cut-out details, with sensual draping, ... and we can always play it down by wearing it under a men's shirt or as trainers.

White dress
There's nothing cooler, cooler and more romantic than wearing a white dress in the summer, especially one with a slight boho look. It's a perfect choice for all-day wear, even for dates. It's best to opt for natural fabrics like cotton and linen and soft, somewhat flowing lines. Lovers will dream of the models by Cecilie Bahnsen and Simone Rocha, but there are also beautiful models for every price range on the market. Or maybe you are lucky and have inherited a vintage model from your mother or grandmother. Models favoured by celebrities and influencers have very thin straps or none at all, so that more bare skin is visible. Which shoes should go with it? Low sandals are a must, perhaps with a straw or pouch bag to complete the look.

Quite Luxury
Is Kylie Jenner's casual chic a result of her new flirtation or the reason she won Timothée Chalamet's heart? Her radical change in wardrobe choices, now filled with Bottega Veneta, Loewe, Alaïa and The Row, has also infected her sister Kendall and Jennifer Lawrence, who seems to be experiencing a real fashion renaissance. If dresses with simple lines and quality materials work for them, why don't we try it too? Maybe they'll help us have less disastrous dates. The luckiest among us can add the same quiet luxury brands as Kylie to their shopping list, but everyone else can find cheaper but equally chic alternatives.
Here are a few styles and the make-up to match:
Matchy-matchy
The two-piece pyjama set of shirt and trousers is perhaps one of the most popular summer trends of recent years. A bold print and pretty accessories are enough to spice it up, but if it seems too simple for a romantic date, we can opt for other matchy-matchy sets with a funkier, sexier cut. From a mini skirt and bra combo to a crop top and longuette combo, the possibilities are endless. As we said, we advise you to opt for playful prints, perhaps inspired by the sea or fruits. The advantage that should not be underestimated? With a set, much of the look is already done, just add accessories and kissable make-up!
