The pure and unspoilt landscape of Inverness, Scotland, with its changing hues, is the evocative setting chosen by Marco De Vincenzo for ETRO's FW23 advertising campaign. In a romantic and powerful atmosphere, Malaysian photographer Zhong Lin, with styling by Gabriella Karefa-Jonson, portrays models Sun Mizrahi and Nathaniel Ortiz in moments of intimacy and sharing. In the shots, the two seem to float between heaven and earth, connected by water, a flowing element that symbolises the sense of union between them.
The campaign is titled Radical ETRO and, like the collection presented at MFW in February, alludes to the founding year 1968 and the etymology of the word radical, which comes from the late Latin word "radicalis"," meaning "at the root". Thus, Lin's images evoke the beauty and sense of freedom of nature, the same qualities that characterise the garments for autumn-winter 2023: an elegant and sophisticated mix of jackets and coats with plunging necklines, maxi dresses in wool knits, huge fringed scarves, colourful knitwear, paisley, floral and tartan patterns. De Vincenzo's creations show his instinctive connection to fabrics and materials, but also poetry, as in the ETRO FW23 advertising campaign.
