Emma Chamberlain is the protagonist of the new campaign by Jean Paul Gaultier
From YouTube vlogs to high fashion
October 7th, 2024
Emma Chamberlain is a success case history. Young, beautiful, with an informal yet blasé attitude, lively and unfiltered, she has established herself as an icon for young millennials and early Gen Z, and the fashion world couldn’t miss out on her, from her role as Vogue’s correspondent on the MET Gala carpet and beyond.
Emma Chamberlain for Jean Paul Gaultier
That’s why she is also the absolute star of the Fall/Winter 2024 campaign by Jean Paul Gaultier, titled Gaultier TV, which directly references her career, turning her into a host, performer, and model — all while wearing, of course, the maison's new collection, including a bridal set. But don't worry, even though her (rumored) relationship with musician Peter McPoland is all over the gossip sites, marriage is still far from her plans.
The references are layered. The star was born on YouTube, and the outfits directly reference the influence of mass media with an ironic, modern, and playful tone. The collection features black and blue denim, vibrant red and white tartan patterns, mesh prints, and cozy winterwear. Among them, the standout is the Mirè dress, a sheer mesh piece that follows the classic Gaultier palette of blue, magenta, green, and black. Not to be missed are the already mentioned tartan and the leopard print.
It's not all maximalist. The collection, so well showcased by Emma Chamberlain, also includes essential pieces perfect for colder days and for having fun with layering. A way to stay current, perhaps, but also to blur the lines between campaign star and her ongoing career, in a coherent meeting from every perspective.
