Kim Cattrall stars in the new Farfetch campaign

Kim Cattrall is much more than just Samantha Jones. Although she gained worldwide fame for her role in Darren Star's cult series, the actress has a long career with many "secrets" that we still don't know, a long career behind her, and a present full of commitments and projects. Kim stated, and despite fans' disappointment, she watched the evolution of the Sex and The City sequel and the tricks devised by Michael King to write Samantha Jones out of the show. This included her moving to London for work, feeling offended and disappointed after Carrie fired her as her publicist. No one has seen her since. No FaceTime calls or surprise visits for a Cosmopolitan and a "Toss or Take?" party. Just a few texts and a bouquet of flowers for Mr. Big’s funeral, bordering on the comedic. However, to the delight of fans, she made a brief cameo in AJLT 2, where she appears in a car, dressed in a total look by Patricia Field, and talks on the phone with Carrie. It seems that for this reappearance in the series, she was paid a million dollars for one minute, which equals $13,000 per second. Moreover, Cattrall imposed two conditions: no contact with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, nor with showrunner Michael Patrick King.

Kim Cattrall Becomes a Model

The actress’s new chapter is what we would have expected from her former character and her status as a fashion icon. In 2022, Kim Cattrall was the star of a luxury online retailer Farfetch’s advertising campaign, appearing on Sunset Strip billboards with cutting-edge styling curated by Farfetch’s Senior Fashion Editor Celine Seidel, where she sits on a sofa wearing a pink and electric blue plaid blazer by AREA, a pair of pink pumps, and a look that dares you to be cooler than her. In other shots, the styling, done by the actress herself, who chose the pieces from the e-tailer’s extensive offerings, reflects the glamorous and bold outfits of Samantha Jones: a butter-yellow silk trench coat, a graphic print turtleneck, accessorized with a red Prada bag; a sculptural check blazer with jewel buttons, black trousers, and pink mules. Even Kim Kardashian wanted Cattrall as a testimonial and chose her for the FW23 campaign of Skims, photographed by Vanessa Beecroft.

Cattrall's Projects After SATC

Since her adventure alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis ended, Kim has acted in several series, though not all as successful. Between 2014 and 2016, Cattrall was part of the cast of Sensitive Skin, in 2018 Tell Me A Story, and more recently, she played Margaret Monreaux in Filthy Rich, a talk show host who finds herself having to manage the family business after her husband’s sudden death. In recent years, Kim has worked in How I Met Your Father, the spin-off of How I Met Your Mother, where she portrayed the older version of the character played by Hilary Duff, the mother telling her son the story of how she met his father. In the show, now set in New Orleans, she plays a Southern socialite with a love for martinis who was raised in a mobile home. Finally, she co-starred in the Netflix series Glamorous, a dramedy set in the beauty industry, where Kim plays former model and makeup mogul Madolyn Addison.
