Is a movie Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson coming soon? Cult director David Cronenberg would like to reunite the Twilight couple in a new movie

Twilight and its romantic vampires marked the adolescence of an entire generation that even as adults continued to dream of a love like that between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, eternal and capable of overcoming every difficulty, bitter enemies and blood meals included. The story then turned from fiction to reality when Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson fell in love off the set, crowning a cinematic illusion worthy of Romeo and Juliet. Now, a decade after the end of their relationship, the couple could be back together, at least on screen, thanks to David Cronenberg. The director, who in recent days presented his latest work, Crimes of the Future, which stars Stewart, at Cannes, told World of Reel that he would find it fun to reunite the Twilight stars in a new project. The director has also directed Pattinson in the past, in the 2012 thriller Cosmopolis and 2014's Maps to the Stars, and it was The Batman actor who suggested he collaborate with Kristen:

"It was Robert who actually introduced me to Kristen. They have developed beautifully, separately, as actors. Making arthouse movies and successfully carrying that off. Kristen and I had a great time and Rob and I had a great time. For me, yeah, I can definitely think of a movie, or idea,  that would be great to have them both together."

Cronenberg added that his next planned project is The Shrouds starring Vincent Cassel, and pointed out that for now reuniting Kristen and Robert is only "an unholy and problematic idea" because the kind of film it would bring to the screen would be very different from what fans of the vampire saga would like to see:

"I don’t want to get into it because it wouldn’t be my next movie, however, it might be problematic since fans might expect a certain kind of relationship and that would get in the way of creating new characters for them. So, I have a strange feeling that might be problematic, so it’s only theoretical for now."

By a strange coincidence, Kristen Stewart is also back talking about her love story with Robert Pattinson these days. To The New Yorker, the Spencer actress said she had been fascinated by the British actor since their first meeting. A couple of jokes exchanged between the two during the casting of Twilight were enough to reveal their chemistry, but what won Kristen over was her partner's way of being. 'He had an intellectual approach that was combined with "I don’t give a fuck about this, but I’m going to make this sing." And I was, like, "Ugh, same"." The story ended for good when she was caught in the arms of Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, but of this Stewart prefers not to mention, blaming the break-up on their youth:

"And, whatever, we were young and stupid and, not to say that we made it so much better, but that’s what it needed, and that’s what anybody playing those parts needed to feel."

Today both have moved on, both professionally and in their private lives. He is with Suki Waterhouse and she is planning her wedding to Dylan Meyer. Despite everything, however, as someone said "Forget the Bennifers or And Just Like That, Kristen and Robert's is the reunion we all need".
