Will the Duke of Hastings return in Bridgerton 3?
According to recent rumors, Regé-Jean Page may rejoin the cast of the Netflix series
June 22nd, 2022
The news of the day made every Bridgerton addict excited: Regé-Jean Page could be among the main characters in the next season of the series. A few months after the end of the second installment of Netflix's Regency saga, we may as well admit it: we missed the Duke of Hastings. Okay, there were the costumes, the explosion of pastel colors, the English countryside with its elegant mansions, the gossip, Lady Whistledown's intrigues, and the passion between Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton, but fans were left with a small void caused by the absence of handsome Simon and his spoon. Now, however, persistent rumors give us hope for his possible return to Daphne's side. According to reports in The Sun, the actor is reportedly in talks with Netflix to appear in Bridgerton 3:
"Regé-Jean was always very open about his intention to quit the show after the first season and to move on to other projects. But recently, there has been a dialogue between him and the show’s bosses. Nothing has been formally agreed yet, but watch this space. Things are very up in the air at the moment, but this will be an exciting year for Rege, without a doubt."
In short, for now, unfortunately, this is mere speculation, and none of those directly involved, neither Page nor the show's production, has made any statements to support the news.
Shortly after the announcement of the second season, Shonda Rhimes and her team had said goodbye to duke Simon, as had Page, pointing out that his character was always intended to last only one season and that he, while grateful for the experience and success the series had gained, was ready to make new experiences in the world of film. And so it was. In the past year, the actor starred alongside Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling in The grey man, a spy movie coming to Netflix in late 2022, while next year, he will appear in the fantasy film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, a film inspired by the hit video game of the same name that also includes Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith in the cast. In addition, there is apparently Regé-Jean in the running to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond. Amidst all these commitments, there is room to appear in episodes of Bridgerton 3, which we know will focus on the romance between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, but will also show developments in the union between Anthony and Kate and, hopefully, between Simon Basset and Daphne. Let's keep our fingers crossed that, if we are lucky, we will soon see the Duke of Hastings on screen in all his hotness!
