Julia Fox wanted to defend Kim from Kanye

Among the couples that have marked 2022 is definitely the one formed by Julia Fox and Kanye West. Their flirtation lasted only a few months, but was widely documented by public outings, photo shoots and social shares so much so that many accused Fox of exploiting the Yeezy founder's popularity to be in the spotlight. Now, however, the Uncut Gems star explained on TikTok the real reason behind her dating Kanye: "I was like, oh my god, maybe I can get him off of Kim’s case. Maybe I can distract him".

Let's go back to last January. It had been almost a year since Kim Kardashian filed for divorce, but her ex-husband was still a long way from accepting her decision and made headlines for his repeated verbal attacks on Pete Davidson, whom Kim was dating at the time. He made private conversations between him and his ex-wife public and claimed that the Kardashian-Jenner clan kept him away from their children. Many called Ye's behavior toward Kim harassment or even emotional abuse. So Fox decided to intervene, convinced that she was the only person who could distract him. She repeated to herself, "I knew if anyone can do it, it’s me because when I set my mind to something, I do it." So he decided to give in to the artist's courtship, despite the qualms of dating a celebrity who also has mental health issues. "I remember just being like, ugh, he was texting me, I wasn’t really answering." She recalls today. But then she changed her mind and things went as we all know. 

Julia is keen to point out that West always behaved well with her, perhaps because he was away from social media at the time: "And I will say that that month that we spent together, he wasn’t on Twitter first of all. He wasn’t on any forms of social media. He didn’t even talk about his relationship. We only really talked about clothes and weird ideas and plans for the future and our hopes and dreams for childhood and education. And it was really beautiful, guys." The idyll between the two soured when Kanye, even before the disaster that happened with Yeezy Season 9 and the anti-Semitic statements, started sharing tweets where he threw numerous barbs at Kim and Pete Davidson. Thus, Fox decided to distance herself, "The moment he started tweeting, I was out." Fox calls herself deluded for believing that she could stop him, that she could help him, and confesses, "And also, I realized pretty quickly that he wasn’t going to take my help." She adds that she thought, "I was like, "I want to help him. I want to help him".  But anyway, I was delusional." And she decided to distance herself from her ex-boyfriend while remaining on good terms. She does not condemn Kanye and shared with fans that she believes it is not fair to reduce a person to only his mistakes. Neither West nor Kim have commented on Julia's revelations.
