Lucien Laviscount has all the makings of the next James Bond
Alfie from Emily in Paris is among the actors vying for the role of cinema's most famous secret agent

Ever since Daniel Craig announced that he would hang his tuxedo in the closet forever and put down the glass of Vodka-Martini (shaken, not stirred), the race to decide who will be the next James Bond has begun. Despite the fact that the franchise's producer, Barbara Broccoli, said last summer that no script currently exists, that she is still trying to figure out how to revolutionize the character created by Ian Fleming, and it is still taking time (there is talk of at least two years before filming begins on the 26th installment of the saga), speculation has been multiplying for months on the Web about who will play the new 007. If the next film follows the timeline of No Time to Die, then James Bond is dead and Lashana Lynch's character, Nomi, has temporarily adopted her ID number as an MI6 agent. So will we see a woman as the double 0 on screen in the future as well? No, at least not for the time being. Broccoli and the other producer, Michael Wilson, in fact, were clear cu three points: the next spy in Her Majesty's service will be a man, not a woman; he should be played by an Englishman; and he should be young enough to continue in the role for at least 15 years. This last feature excluded from the list the star that in fury everyone, from fellow actors to directors to the many Bond fans, wanted to see live unprecedented and exciting adventures as cinema's most famous secret agent, and that is Idris Elba. At 50, the Luther actor seems too much of an adult nor have any desire to remain attached to the franchise for more than a decade to come, thus giving way to younger talent.
Some swear that the right person could be Lucien Laviscount, the Alfie from Emily In Paris. After winning millions of fans as the charming heartthrob in the series everyone loves to hate, it seems the British actor has caught the attention of film producer Barbara Broccoli. According to an anonymous source, "Lucien ticks all the boxes. He is a very talented actor, he is extremely handsome, and in the last 18 months he has won many new fans since joining Emily In Paris. Bond bosses are already saying you can see him in 007's tuxedo, which will be very stylish and appropriate for the role." While those who enjoyed him in the role of the young British banker who moved to France for work are already dreaming of a crossover scene in which at some point in the new 007 reminisces about his life in Paris when he dated an insufferable American woman with loud outfits, there is one element that could play against him is Laviscount's appearance on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011, a reality show deemed too frivolous by the standards and resumes of previous Bonds.
Should Laviscount be ruled out for Big Brother, the name of Aaron Taylor-Johnson to succeed Daniel Craig is increasingly being floated in recent hours. According to bookmaker William Hill, Taylor-Johnson's odds of being the next James Bond are now at 4/5, while other sources state that he has already filmed a "top secret audition" at Pinewood Studios and the meeting with producers went well. After all he has all the credentials to be 007 as he has shown in the recent Bullet Train and Tenet: "great actor, British, suitable for the young direction the Broccoli's want to take, established but not particularly famous." Will he therefore be the next James Bond? For many, he would be one step away from signing the contract, but the same has been said in the past for other stars on the list of possibles that includes, among others, Regé-Jean Page, the charming Duke of Hastings in the Bridgerton series, Henry Golding, the Mr. Elliot of Persuasion now on Netflix, Paul Mescal of Normal People, Cillian Murphy of Peaky Blinders, and the more famous Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, and Tom Holland.
